Running in the Wild

Having not been an athletic kid, I discovered my love for running fairly late. It was in my early thirties when I got back from San Francisco where I became really outdoorsy.

I try to involve my kids in my running activities, hoping they’ll be sportier kids than I was. My youngest is a natural runner. The older one needs a bit more persuading and the On Zoo Run was the perfect fun run for the two of us. It was a 5km run through Zürich Zoo after closing time with the opportunity to make stops on the run and watch the animals.

There were about 1’000 participants and a sum of over CHF 25’000 was collected for an animal sanctuary in Africa.

What was also great is that I could try out a pair of On shoes. My Asics are my trusted running companions but I have to admit, the On Cloudflyer was very comfy. Of course, 5km is too short a distance for a final verdict, but this first run was promising.

The On Zoo Run will be on again next year. However, having barely survived a cheetah attack today, I will have to think twice about participating next year …
